The Best Release Party of All Time

Halloween Good Night
By Rebecca Grabill

No, seriously. The release party for my first book happened just over a week ago now, and it was crazy! Crazy busy, crazy fun, crazy full of awesome people. A week (and a bit) later, I'm still glowing. And recovering, because this busy mama was prepping until the hour before, and this introvert needs her downtime.

A few statistics from the event:

Cups of Monster Mix consumed: 46
Mummy Juice Boxes demolished: 30
Attendance: Best estimate of around 75!
Children: At least 25
Books sold and signed: ALL OF THEM!

Some highlights in the form of AMAZING photos from my photo-taking-maniac friend, Paul Hart (find more of Paul's photos here, and locals, if you need a photographer...):

Hopscotch Children's Store hosted the event. It was the perfect venue - spacious, full of awesome toys and books, and overflowing with great people!

We had snacks and mingled...

We did crafts...(Find the Halloween Good Night coloring pages here.)

Halloween Good Night Enthralled all...

I've never had such an attentive audience!

And we finished up with some book signing fun!

A huge thank you (again!) to everyone who attended. You are all the BEST! And for those who missed it, check out my upcoming events. It's not too late! I'm confident everyone who came left with good memories, a few extra calories, and a little something special.

I also owe a special word of thanks to Michele Ross! She kept the whole event on track, helped me make sense of the mountain of details involved in event planning, and is just all around wonderful. And a huge thank you, too, to Mark and Emily, owners of Hopscotch Children's Store!

Rebecca has been writing since childhood, her first book about a kitten published between homemade cardboard covers in second grade. Although she studied religion and philosophy in university, she continued writing, earning an MFA from Hamline University and publishing multiple picture books (no longer with homemade covers) and a collection of poetry with a variety of New York and independent publishers. She has also published a wide array of fiction, essays, and poetry in magazines and journals and photographs for Getty Images. She balances writing with homeschooling the younger of her six children, launching her young adults, church activities, and overseeing a small flock of chickens in rural West Michigan.
