Hi, I’m Rebecca. I write books and I write here at This Joyful Mess to inspire everyone to find JOY in the everyday messes of life. Here you’ll find inspiration, educational resources, and so much more. Please explore and connect—I’d love to hear from you!
Everything You Need for a Full Week of Halloween Learning Fun!
Enjoy this FREE Halloween Unit Study. A full week of Halloween fun for PreK, Kindergarten, First Grade, all centered on the book Halloween Good Night by Rebecca Grabill.
An Ordinary Extraordinary Book About Moths
I first "met" Karlin when she asked to do an author interview on the release of my first book, Halloween Good Night. Of course I had to follow suit (i.e., steal her excellent idea!) to celebrate the release of her second book, An Extraordinary Ordinary Moth.
Night Animals: October's Ivy Kids Crate
October's Ivy Kids subscription box featured the adorable book Night Animals. This and the cute as anything plush skunk were without a doubt the highlights of the box.
October's Color and Light Kiwi Crate in Review
Our second Kiwi Crate proved almost as much fun as the first. I say almost because the first crate had such "playtime" value, while the second was very much scientific exploration and experimentation. Great value, of course, but let's be realistic, nothing is quite as fun as making a real working stethoscope.
Our First Ivy Kids Subscription Box: How it Went
September's Ivy Kids box (made possible by our Hamilton Schools homeschool partnership!) featured Chicka Chicka 123, a book about counting! My first surprise: the format sent was a board book.
FREE Printable Finger Puppets for Halloween
Just in time for Halloween crafting fun, here are ten FREE finger puppets, printer-ready, just waiting for little fingers and the accompanying book, Halloween Good Night by Rebecca Grabill (me). In fact, there's the link to purchase (affiliate), or check it out from your library!
Our First Kiwi Crate in September: Did We Love It?
This is our first year working with a partner public school for a few fun educational extras. My favorite addition? The subscription boxes! Sure, foreign language is fun, and art (things the older kiddos are doing through the school), but what's better than your own personal activity kit, new every month? I have a thing for subscription boxes, I'll admit.
Halloween Good Night Activity Pages
I've shared a handful of coloring pages, so now for even more fun! Below find a Vampire Dot-to-Dot and a Draw Your Own Ghoul page! I would LOVE to see your finished Ghouls. Feel free to share them on Instagram with the hashtag #halloweengoodnight or on my Facebook page. A few may show up as featured images on my website! (With your permission, of course.)
